So. It's common knowledge that most students of BYUI only come up here because A) they didn't get into BYU (that's me!) or B) to find their "eternal companion" (as it is so often called up here).
Today, I heard that some students will change their major when they're really close to graduating, simply because they haven't gotten married yet.
WHAT?!?!
Why the heck would someone do that??
So close to graduating!
And after spending so much time in classes and doing homework!
And lets not forget the THOUSANDS of dollars they just wasted on education that apparently doesn't matter to them.
If you didn't get married while up here, that doesn't mean there's no hope for you in the real world. There are still plenty of single men/women outside of Rexburg. And even if you don't get married before you graduate, here's a wacky thought: stay in Rexburg. Just because you graduate doesn't mean you have to immediately leave (even though that's what I'll be doing).
And even if you do leave after graduating, there are still plenty of singles out in the world that you can date.
That is my rant for the day.
So dumb! PLUS there's a credit cap, so you can't just decide to change your major when you've almost graduated, you won't ever get enough credits for your next major because they'll kick you out!
ReplyDeleteExactly. Marriage is not worth screwing up the rest of your life (e.g.: no degree, therefore no job, therefore no income, therefore a craptastic life in which one most likely would not want to share), in my opinion, even if it is the most important commandment.
