My Life in the Past Week

Hola! Here's what I've been up to this past week:

February 21: I almost left my apartment to take pictures. Almost. But, I couldn't think of anything that I could take a picture of, since everything is covered in snow.

February 22: I didn't babysit Benson :( I have to say I missed him, but I enjoyed sleeping in :) Glee was AMAZING! Loved it! Probably one of the best episodes of the season. I "helped" Nancy babysit her nieces and nephew (more like just watched the baby play with stuff). After the kids left, Nancy, Trevor (her fiance) and I watched New in Town. I'd seen it before and didn't think it was that great, but this time around it was pretty funny.

February 23: Thanks to clean checks, this day was super productive. I did my "job" (dishes, counters and trash), I finally folded my laundry and put it away, vacuumed my room, made my bed...its just lovely to have a clean room. It sucks that I didn't feel that way at home :\ *little background story for you readers*: I take my iPod to church with me to take notes (its easier to carry than my church notebook). *end background story*. I transferred some of my church/devo notes from my iPod to my church notebook. It was good to look back on things I found interesting/important. Near the end of the day, my FHE brother Ron came over to watch a movie for a class on his computer (his internet sucks, my internet wins). After the movie, I helped Nancy play around with wedding invite styles online (just for fun). And it really was fun :) during that, I tried on my bridesmaid dress for her (the other half finally showed up). Then we watched Tuesday's Glee. Again. Haha

February 24: I babysat Benson. Apparently, one of the cousins they were visiting had pneumonia, and said cousin's parents didn't think it was contagious. O_o so Benson got a cold. And slept most of the day (which was marvelous). But when he wasn't sleeping he was either calm or his same energetic self. After that I vegged in my apartment. Woo.

February 25: Nancy went to a clothes swap thing on campus and got a dress. It was too big for her, so she gave it to me :) its a summery dress, so I have to wait for the snow to melt before I can wear it. Dear snow, please melt. Soon. Thanks :)

I went on a date with my FHE brother, Ron. It was so much fun! Up here at good 'ol BYU-Idaho, they have this thing called pond skimming, where you either ski or snowboard (some people even sledded) down a hill of snow and skim over a pond of water. So we went and watched that for about...45 minutes. We stayed long enough to watch our FHE sister, Paige, go down. After that, we went to his apartment and had hot chocolate (from a hot chocolate maker) and dinner with his roommate Tyson and Tyson's fiancee. Both the ho-cho and dinner were delicious. After that, we watched Julian Smith videos (he's amazing, by the way. Watch all his videos :)) while waiting for someone to bring over a movie. Then their not-roommate (he sleeps next door, but practically lives with them) then came over, and we discovered he likes Gabriel Iglesias (I LOVE Gabriel Iglesias). So we decided we would watch the DVD that I have. Just as we were getting ready to go get it, the people brought the movie over. Sad day. So we watched the movie (Megamind). It was pretty funny :) after Megamind we watched half of a different Gabriel Iglesias DVD.

On a more somber note, Party McWeber passed away. We're guessing s/he (we thought it was a he, but then we thought it was a she. Now I just call it an it) couldn't stand living without its brother, Chuck, who passed away last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of Party :( he was a goldfish, though, so just use your imagination :)

February 26: I went to a relief society conference thing. Sister Julie B. Beck (General Relief Society President) was there. It was mainly a Q&A, but the questions were really good. And Sister Beck had amazing answers to all the questions, most of them with a scripture or two. After that, I didn't really do anything. :(

February 27: Stake conference was...meh. They reorganized the stake presidency, and therefore the new stake presidency and their wives were invited to share their testimonies. Nancy and I applied the phrase "with my eternal companion" to almost every sentence of every testimony. It was quite hilarious. And, then I fell asleep (which I feel terrible for).

After stake conference, I vegged in my room for a while, made some Tuna Helper for lunch. Then I took a two hour nap (which was amazing). Then I watched some basketball game with Trevor (he was here). It looked like it was old, but I think it was a new one. After that, I watched the Academy Awards! I love watching the Academy Awards, especially this year because I saw most of the movies that were nominated. James Franco and Anne Hathaway were pretty good hosts, not gonna lie. I was shocked that The King's Speech won "Best Picture"...I thought for sure that Inception, The Social Network, or Black Swan would have won. After the awards, I ate dinner, and then Sienna and I watched The Blind Side. Such a good movie!

And that is what I've been up to in the past week. Have a good day!

No Title

I couldn't really come up with a title for this blog post. I guess I could have called it "my life since I last updated", but that's too boring.

Anyway. This really is a post about my life since I last updated. Brace yourselves, this is a long-ish post.

February 16: My nephew, Nancy's son, etc, Chuck, died. :( So sad! He truly brought joy into my life. Even if he was retarded.

Then, the power went out in Rexburg (or just our street...IDK). Nancy and I were going to make a blanket fort. Except we spent a half hour in the dark before we decided to build one, and then decided we needed more light to build. So, we spent the next half hour trying to find a candle. Then we spent about 10 minutes looking for something to light the candle with. We found matches, and lit the candle. As we were returning the matches, the power came back on. So, we gave up on making the blanket fort :(

February 18: I got my bridesmaid dress in the mail (I ordered it online)! Its great. Once I get a *good-looking* picture of me in it, I'll post it up here. Or maybe I'll just steal Nancy's wedding photos when she gets married. Yeah.

I went on a date with my FHE brother. It was fun :) we went to see the new Liam Neeson movie ("Unknown"), which was super good. Really intense, and I don't think anyone was prepared for the ending. Frank Langella was also in this movie. Once again, he played the "bad guy." It seems like he's always the bad guy in every movie he's in. Don't get me wrong, he's an awesome bad guy. But, it's getting a little boring. Anyone else think Liam Neeson looks like Daniel Craig from the newer James Bond movies in the "Unknown" poster? I don't even think Liam Neeson held a gun during the movie...anyway. After the movie we went to TwizlBerry (FroYo). Yum!

February 19: After I got home from my date and my roommate Kelsi got home from...wherever she was with her boyfriend (at 1:00 AM...so it still felt like the 18th), we discovered our two other roommates (we actually have four, but two were already out of town for the weekend) were also going to be out of town. So, we decided to have an impromptu sleepover (we've already had one of these). We watched "Shark Tale" for about 30 ish minutes before we fell asleep :\

After waking up and doing absolutely nothing all day (besides making delicious grilled cheese--with ham--swamitches and tomato soup), I watched a movie with my other FHE brother, Ron. We watched the ending of the most recent episode of "The Office" (well, I watched the ending. He and his roommates had been watching it for a while) and the last hour or so of "The Longest Yard".

After I got home, I noticed that something was wrong with Party :( I heard a noise (similar to the noise Chuck would make when he played with the rocks at the bottom of the bowl), and looked to see Party in the middle of the bowl, on his side, slowly floating downward. Aah! I got really scared, and stared at his bowl for a good 20 minutes before he finally moved. After that, I spent 10 minutes "encouraging" him to swim. Scariest. Moment. Of my life.

February 20: Party is now back to normal! Woohoo! Church = Amazing! I'm coming to really love the lessons that are being taught in Relief Society and Sunday School. In Relief Society we talked about service, and in Sunday School we talked about being disciples of Christ.

After church, I made dinner. While I was making dinner, something happened in our fridge, causing a giant jar of minced garlic to fall on the ground (and break--our apartment now reeks of garlic). After cleaning it up (which was disgusting), I noticed a tiny piece of glass on the floor. So, I picked it up, walked over to the trash can, and attempted to brush said piece of glass off my hand. I failed. But succeeded at getting a cut on the lower back of my left ring finger and at the corner of my right pointer fingernail. Ow. It now hurts to do anything hardcore with both fingers (it hurts to type this, and hurts when I flex my left hand).

After that, I just hung out in my apartment, talked (texted) with my mom for a bit, until my home teachers came over. Turns out, one of my friends from last semester is now my home teacher! Neat! Their lesson was also really good--it was on prayer.

February 21 (today): Nothing blog-worthy so far. Maybe something will happen at FHE (if we have it today, since its a holiday). Party is still doing good.

I almost went on a picture-taking adventure today. But, I couldn't think of anything to take a picture of, since there's nothing but snow up here. I also decided that one day I will have this camera, or a camera very similar to it. I used one like this on newspaper a couple times and loved it. It might take me a while though, considering my current financial situation. However, I'm going to try really hard to have one by the time I get married (which is at least two to three years away). If that's not possible, I WILL get one before I have kids. Can't have me documenting their lives without a nice camera, especially if I'm going to scrapbook (something I'm not necessarily a fan of) for them.

For those of you still awake after this insanely long post, have a good day!

Benson Schmalle...and other things I wish to blog about

He's the baby I babysit on Tuesdays and Thursdays :) quite possibly one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. Ever. He's 14 months old (almost 15), and is happy as long as he has toys to play with, someone to play along with him, a full stomach, and has had a nap recently.

Today while eating lunch, I discovered that he likes it when I go cross-eyed. Here's his usual reaction to whenever I do it:

In other news, yesterday's Singles Awareness Day celebration was a success...well, as much a success as you can get when you eat ice cream by yourself for a bit. I hung out with my FHE family for a while (since we had FHE) to avoid being around lovey-dovey couples in my apartment. Hanging out with them was fun :) I should do it more often. Haha

I ordered my bridesmaid dress for Nancy's wedding yesterday! So excited to get it, and even more excited to be a bridesmaid. Its gonna be awesome. :)

Oh, I also ordered a planner! Yes! Now I can stop stressing about it...for some reason, I have really stressed about not having a planner for this calendar year. Reason as to why its weird: there are times where I'll use the planner diligently, and times where I won't even open it (sometimes for months at a time). But, at least I can know that when I need to write something important down for school or life or whatever, I can have a place to write it down :)

I REALLY NEED TO DO LAUNDRY!! I just have to wait for it to be later in the day so washers will be open. Or do it early tomorrow morning.

Thats about it for whats going on in life most recently.

Have a good day!

Quotes

I got bored today and looked up quotes of all kinds (mainly love quotes). I decided to share them with you. Enjoy!

who calls you back when you hang up on him,
who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat,
or will stay awake just to watch you sleep...
wait for the boy who kisses your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats,
who holds your hand in front of his friends,
who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on.
One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have you....The one who turns to his friends and says, 'that's her.'"
~Unknown

"Love is a temporary madness.
It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots
have become so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
 it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any of us
can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Your mother and I had it,
we had roots that grew towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches
we found that we were one tree and not two."
~St. Augustine

“In the arithmetic of love, one plus one equals everything,
and two minus one equals nothing.”
~Mignon McLaughlin

"Immature love says, 'I love you because I need you.'
Mature love says, 'I need you because I love you.'"
~Erich Fromm

"Before I met my husband, I'd never fallen in love.
I'd stepped in it a few times." ~Rita Rudner

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be
one hundred minus one day
so I never have to live without you."
~Unknown

"Love is like war: easy to begin but very hard to stop."

"The hours I spend with you I look upon as
sort of a perfumed garden,
a dim twilight, and a fountain singing to it.
You and you alone make me feel that I am alive.
Other men it is said have seen angels,
but I have seen thee and thou art enough."
~George Edward Moore

"Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's
called falling in love, because you don't
force yourself to fall, you just fall."
~Unknown

"It is wrong to think that love comes from long companionship
and persevering courtship. Love is the offspring of spiritual
affinity and unless that affinity is created in a moment, it
will not be created for years or even generations."
~Khalil Gibran

"Just because you know someone doesn't mean you love them,
and just because you don't know people doesn't mean you can't
love them. You can fall in love with a complete stranger in a
heartbeat, if God planned that route for you. So open your heart
to strangers more often. You never know when God will throw
that pass at you."
~ Heather Grove

"Maybe God put a few bad people in your life,
so when the right one came along you'd be thankful."
~ Andrea Kiefer

But never hurt the heart that loves you."

"It doesn't take a reason to love someone
but it does to like someone. You don't love
someone because you want to, you love someone
because you are destined too. It's because you
fall in love with them, that you then try to
find a reason, but you always come up with
the answer, No reason!"
~Unknown

One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle."

you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth."
~Mitch Albom

"Love is perhaps the only glimpse we are permitted of eternity."

People change so that you can learn to let go,
things go wrong so that you

to trust no one but yourself,
and sometimes good things fall apart
so better things can fall together."

they still miss the ones they left behind."

Laura's Baptism!

This weekend was my sister, Laura's, baptism. It was so good to be able to see my family again (even though its only been a month since I last saw them). Here are some pictures from the weekend :)

The family after the baptism: Mike, Caitlyn, Me, Laura, Dad, Megan, Mom, Vicente

Laura in front of a picture of Christ

Michael (baptized Laura--apparently she could have gotten baptized a day before she turned 8, but she decided to wait a month so Mike could baptize her), Laura, Dad (confirmed Laura)

Laura and me Sunday Morning. Isn't her baptism dress pretty? :)

Close-up of Laura and me
I also loved being able to see some extended family, which included my aunts and uncles (Tamara, Kendal and Sharlee, Eric, Cory and Kim, Nathan and Carolyn, and Jennie and Garth), my Grandma Becky, and my cousins :)

Have a good day!
